主讲概况:Raj Parthasarathy,the School of Engineering at RMIT University in Australia副教授。研究专长:His research interests are in multiphase flow and mixing, anaerobic digester hydrodynamics, process intensification, biomass utilisation and biodegradable polymers.。He has been the Head of Chemical Engineering at RMIT University from 2014-2016. His research interests are in multiphase flow and mixing, anaerobic digester hydrodynamics, process intensification, biomass utilisation and biodegradable polymers.

 

主讲内容:Optimising the sludge flow in anaerobic digesters is important to enhance the contact between the feed sludge and the active biomass, ensure uniform temperature and substrate concentration throughout the digester, and minimise the volume of stagnant zones. Our study has focused on improving the liquid jet recirculation mixing to increase the digester active volume in a lab-scale model digester using flow visualisation and electrical resistance tomography techniques using a transparent simulant. Our experimental results have revealed the distinct phases in the transient behaviour active volume and the interaction of fluid flows generated by suction and injection ports. We have developed design and operating rules for optimising the sludge flow in digesters.
